Update on stuff

Song of the day Hard-Fi - suburban Knights

Well there nothing much to say on here lately. Havn't been able to sleep properly lately. The last few nights i've been going to bed at 4am and i sleep very well so dunno whats going on there!

I've been going to Brunel FM on saturdays at the moment and updating internet stuff and doing radio shows. Trying to find something to do that does'nt cost any money because (No idea why) i was taken off the course at the training centre and due to this we havnt had any money.

My dad thinks it will all happen at the same time (baby gets born, we get loads of money and i get the radio job i've been trying to get for ages). i know most of it will come all at the same time but i don't know when though.

Caroline had to go to the hospital the other day... she had pains in her stomach and felt ill but its nothing to worry about, It was just the baby pushing at her pelvis which makes her uncomfortable, but the baby is fine lol. theres less than a month left untill it comes so thats cool.

Listening to GWR at the moment, not liking the music or the image they have. They have this request show with Andy Henley and a jingle that says "We'll play whatever you want... aslong as we like it" which basically means "We'll play what we think you want... which is whatever we want" which has always been their way since the corprate branding. Radio is boreing!!!!

I'm also a little pissed off and disapointed today because of something i was told yesterday. not gona say exactly what it is but i think its because the person who i'm disapointed with is jelous of me and is doing things to make me look stupid, just to take the emphasis off their odd hobbies and fettishes. Luckilly i have loads of ammo and not afraid to use it on my website!!!

Actually, Music On Demand is very much about playing what the listeners ask for. Yes, it does have to be on the system, but (and I know this will shock you) the Music on Demand database is huge and it's not restricted to the normal daytime music policy.

I know the music on some stations are better at night, I'd love to be a night DJ some day because it sounds more fun that daytime stuff. GWR is good at what it does but there are some really great tracks that arnt played anymore.

I have noticed gold play a load of songs i havnt heard for ages on local radio(does gold stand for Gwr/Gcap Old??? lol) which by the way have got it spot on, Shame its not a local jock, and if i want more 80's and 90's, Then i can always switch to Brunel FM but none of the locals play music thats out of the ordinary anymore and mostly stick to songs that have made the top 5 or top 10 because people remember them. But the way i feel Music on Demand works is "We have a bunch of songs we like, Tell us what you want we'll play it... if its in our list". Yeah there might be some corkers in there but if they arnt requested because nobody has requested it the same old stuff is played over and over and just gets tedius. Fair enough if anyone wants to do that, there is plenty of choice and as my old radio boss says "If they dont like it, they can switch over".

i get some pretty good reaction to some of the music on my database i play sometimes to family and have used in net shows, Music like, Mai Tai - History, The smiths - How soon is now, Thompson Twins - Doctor Doctor, Michael Jackson - Who Is It, Freeez - I.O.U., Praga Khan - Injected With A Poison, Jacksons - Walk Right now, east 17 - thunder, Daft Punk - Digital Love, Jakatta - American Dream. Yes i play what i think people want, but it comes down to the fact that they didn't know they wanted it.

One in a million people will pick them songs and they may not be on the Music on demand list, but just playing one of them songs for someone can make them feel important or remind them of a great time. And because of Daily Radio Output they arnt heard, so the regular listener would of forgotton.

I listened to Jack FM's test broadcasts earlier. If their station is as good as their test then i'm moving to oxford!! Original is ok too most of the time, but i can see stations following suit to this, and personalities coming back into radio with the launch of community stations and wouldnt be suprised of some of them were picked out.

If radio & tv could survive not only employing more people but playing a wider range of music with a very higl level of locality in the 80's and 90's, What makes radio better today when they have to cut down their crew and go to network.

i know that there is no point moving backwards, but history can teach us lessons

Thats My poorly punctuated essay!
